APU is committed to providing educational experiences in and out of the classroom. The Outdoor Adventures program provides participants with outdoor leadership and recreational opportunities while offering a supportive experiential environment that encourages participants to explore the meaning of their faith. Outdoor Adventures seeks to take students where they’ve never gone before and let them discover God’s creation in a whole new way!

Personal Description and Outdoor Experience: I’ve been living it up in the outdoors for a long time. After college I spent a year in the Amazon of Venezuela, which sealed the love of the outdoors for me. Since then I have been backpacking in the Appalachians, Himalayas and Cascades. I love being in the wilderness with my wife, Kara.

Personal Description and Outdoor Experience: Any opportunity to be outdoors is a good one! I love biking, hiking, skiing, and hanging out with new people! High Sierra Spring Semester 2012.

Kyle Konerman, Outdoor Adventure Intern
Favorite Place/Trip- Hiking through Berber Villages in the Lower Atlas Mountains of Morocco.
Personal Description and Outdoor Experience- Grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio. Fell in love with the outdoors on a canoeing trip in Minnesota’s Boundary Waters. Somehow ended up at APU and participated in the Wilderness Orientation in Ansel Adams Wilderness, thus leading to his joining the fall 2011 High Sierra squad. Spent summer 2012 on the Semester at Sea travel abroad program, exploring the coastal cities of the Mediterranean. Kyle has backpacked in California, Utah, and Morocco and has canoed through Boundary Waters, Canada. He has hiked up an active volcano, Mt. Vesuvius, in Italy, up to a mountain monastery in Spain, sea kayaked in Croatia, seen the center of the universe in Delphi, Greece, and hiked through rural villages in Turkey. Kyle enjoys climbing, kayaking, and generally reflecting upon and exploring God’s creation.
